The Amphitrax pontoon system is designed specifically as substitute undercarriage for mid-sized excavators to carry out work in difficult terrain, where soil is too unstable or where there is too much water for a normal crawler or wheeled excavator to work in.
Amphitrax pontoons transform a normal excavator into a versatile amphibious machine which has the ability to manoeuvre in virtually all areas; Functionality of the excavator can now be used almost anywhere.
The large footprint creates low ground pressure while the track pads of different length ensure good grip. On each pontoon, oil filled and sealed Berco track chains are used with bolted on aluminium and steel track pads. Berco chains and the support rollers are very durable and do not require a lot of maintenance to last, especially compared to commonly used multiple chain systems.
